As a little kid, I had major wanderlust which I attribute to a book my mother bought me of the seven wonders of the world. I pored over this book constantly and quickly put each of them on my “little kid bucket list”. Continue reading Style Domination’s Guide to Peru
1. What blogs, magazines, or websites do you often look to for inspiration?
My mind is constantly running…thinking about ideas and inspiration for writing, so I am pretty much inspired by a lot of what’s happening around me. Continue reading Getting to Know Me: Seven Questions for Style Domination
As spring nears, I’ve been thinking about lightening up my nail colour palette. I am usually drawn to dark rich colours, such as Chanel’s Rouge Noir (also known as “Vamp”), but these can feel pretty heavy for spring time.
On these cold, wintry days, I make soup. We are currently in the dead of winter and I’m desperate for spring and will do anything to stay warm. Part of my “warming/thawing” strategy is making a favourite soup of mine – roasted acorn squash soup. Continue reading Roasted Acorn Squash Soup
As I noted in my previous post Damn You, Canadian Winter!, this winter has been hellish. Our city is on track to set a new record for the coldest February ever. A few weeks ago, our city was colder than the North Pole! Continue reading Style Domination Beauty Review: Vichy Ideal Body Balm
While perusing the latest pics from the NYFW 2015 shows on www.vogue.co.uk, I stumbled across the Ralph & Russo Spring/Summer 2015 show. I am ashamed to admit that I have never heard of this label. As I skimmed over the runway photos, I was STUNNED. These dresses are absolutely gorgeous. There aren’t enough positive adjectives out there to describe the magic of this particular show. On Saturday, February 14th, Altuzarra presented his RTW Fall 2015 collection in New York. To date, it is my favourite. Gorgeous, sexy, rich, romantic…completely up my alley. Lots of fox fur, plenty of lace…everything was dripping with moneyed sex appeal. The best part of the show apart from the candy-coloured furs were the slinky, dark, velvety evening looks. If I had a boat load of cash…I’d buy this entire collection. Wow. Continue reading New York Fashion Week: Altuzarra Ready to Wear Fall 2015
Lately, I have cut down on my drinking. While I’m happy with my decision, I would like to indulge in a nice glass of something now and then. My absolute favourites are big, flavourful red wines – Shiraz/Syrah, Amarone, Château-neuf-du-pape…the stronger, the better. I also love “old-timey” cocktails like gin and tonics and the tasty Old Fashioned. Continue reading Drinking Smarter – Say No to Hangovers
Every year at this time – the dead of winter – my skin goes haywire. Dry, scaly skin on my legs, and my face goes into hyper oil production. Sigh. While I’m blessed to have pretty good skin, I do get the occasional breakout . Btw, when the hell does the acne stop???? How old do you have to be? LOL! It is soo cold. Like, IT IS SO COLD. This morning when I got up and checked the weather, it was f*cking -40ºC with the windchill. I am not exaggerating. Continue reading Damn You, Canadian Winter!!!
