While perusing the latest pics from the NYFW 2015 shows on www.vogue.co.uk, I stumbled across the Ralph & Russo Spring/Summer 2015 show. I am ashamed to admit that I have never heard of this label. As I skimmed over the runway photos, I was STUNNED. These dresses are absolutely gorgeous. There aren’t enough positive adjectives out there to describe the magic of this particular show.
Each of these dresses made me wonder: “How on Earth was this made?”, in particular the hooped hemlines and floating necklines of some featured dresses. The quality is second to none – of course, as it is couture, and each dress drips with delicate femininity. I was so taken aback by the beauty of this show that I decided to learn a little more about this exquisite label.
Ralph & Russo is a British luxury goods and haute couture fashion house, employing some of the world’s most skilled couturiers. These couturiers each have between 15-25 years experience and are experts in their fields. Up to 20 couturiers work on each gown, taking hundreds of hours to perfect each piece. It is understandable why gowns start at £20,000 with some reaching the £1,000,000 mark (depending on a client’s specific requests).
Creative Director Tamara Ralph comes from a family of interior designers, stylists and couturiers herself. At age 12, she began creating her own designs and by age 15, she was selling her pieces to various boutiques. Tamara partnered with Michael Russo (CEO) in 2007 and established the Ralph & Russo label, which quickly became one of the world’s most respected and exclusive fashion houses. In fact, in 2013, it became the first and only British house to be elected by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture to show its collection on the official schedule at Paris Haute Couture Week, alongside brands such as Chanel, Dior and Valentino.
While I’m a little late, I’d love to share some of my favourite images from their Spring/Summer 2015 collection:
*Stunning hooped hemline…how does one create this??
*Floating shoulders…fabulous couture element
*Another great example of floating shoulders
I’m interested to know what your favourite looks are from this collection? If you had to choose just one dress, which one would it be? I don’t think I could decide!
