Last Saturday night, my friend Katie and I were lucky enough to attend Bashnoir, a beautiful, glitzy fundraiser for The Snowsuit Fund – an Ottawa-based charity that raises funds for the purchase and distribution of snowsuits to children in need within the Ottawa Community.
I was really anxious to go to the event, mainly to support The Snowsuit Fund and because I’ll use any excuse to dress up. This event would also give me an opportunity to see the newly overhauled Lansdowne Park. Lansdowne is located pretty much in the centre of our city and it houses our football stadium. The stadium was very old and was in dire need of repair, so the City of Ottawa overtook its renovation.
Well, I was impressed! Continue reading Style Domination Goes to Bashnoir!
Today marks the sixth month anniversary of my blog!
I wanted to take the time to thank each and every one of you for following along, liking my posts, reblogging, and hell – I even want to thank the crazy trolls and amorous stalkers.
I was encouraged to start this blog by my loving husband Ryan, best friend Vanessa and my two loving sisters, Erika and Alice. A few weeks after starting, my wonderful friend Katie of YOW City Style pushed me to really unleash my creative flow on the world and get in front of the camera more.
This has been a great learning process. I’m honing my writing skills, meeting a ton of great people, my social life has skyrocketed and opportunities abound.
Best of all, I’ve met a ton of new friends, both in real life and online. I think one of the most satisfying things of all is actually meeting my new online friends face-to-face!
So again, thank you so much for your support and encouragement. Thank you for sending me post ideas, items to review on the blog and commenting. Means a lot.
Peace and love to you all,
Class. Elegance. Legacy. Diamonds. All words synonymous with Tiffany & Co.
I’ve always loved Tiffany & Co. I knew at an early age that this jeweller was special. I remember watching Jeannie Beker on Fashion Television and being amazed at the gorgeous, organic Bone Cuff that she’d wear each episode. I will never forget the first time I visited the iconic Tiffany & Co. store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan – the excitement and thrill of standing in the same place that Audrey Hepburn did in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The day I finally acquired my first piece of Tiffany jewelry, I floated out of the store on Cloud Nine… Continue reading Style Domination Visits Tiffany & Co.’s Newest Canadian Location – Rideau Centre, Ottawa, Ontario
Following up on yesterday’s post Skin Destroyers: Avoid These Pitfalls, I thought I would post some skincare rules we should all be following. As a former esthetician, I’ve seen it all. From people with red, angry skin from leaving harsh face masques on too long, to those with serious scarring from picking at acne relentlessly, skin care is something everyone should fully understand.
As we take care of ourselves by hydrating properly with lots of water and eating nutritious food to keep us healthy and energized, we can boost the positive effects of these practices by taking a few steps to baby and protect our skin. It’s natural to want to pick at a huge pimple in desperation, hoping that squeezing it to death will miraculously make it disappear. It’s also understandable to want to discover that miracle skin scream that will reverse the “ravages of time” and bestow an Adriana Lima-like glow upon us. I think it’s best to just embrace the skin your in and work with what you have. Armed with knowledge, you can indeed transform lacklustre skin into something you’re proud of. Read on for more details! Continue reading Seven of the Best Skincare Rules to Follow
Ok. I’m officially obsessed with skin care. Maybe it’s because I’ve reached a certain age and I find my dark circles now refuse to go away, and I am getting tiny moles everywhere thanks to being a self-proclaimed sun worshipper. One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to take much better care of my skin. I thought that may be easier to attain and make me happier than the usual “Spend Less”, “Exercise More”, “Drink Less”, “Buy a Chanel Bag” and “Buy More Shoes” resolutions that I make year after year. Here is my list of skin no-nos, things that most of us all do on a daily basis that causes us not to reach our full JLo-like, glowy potential. Continue reading Skin Destroyers: Avoid These Pitfalls
Well, it’s been a hectic week, but in a good way. Work is trucking along well, our landscaper has started in our backyard on my rockgarden (so thrilled!) and Ryan and I have booked our trip out west to visit his family. Life is good.
I hadn’t seen my two girlfriends for cocktails and dinner in a while, and Lucie thought it was about time to hit up a patio and enjoy a few laughs together. Continue reading Style Domination Restaurant Review: Metropolitain Brasserie Restaurant
After the Alfred & Co. fashion show I attended a few weeks ago, I had a little spare time on my hands before heading home. Since I was downtown in Ottawa’s beautiful Byward Market, I thought I’d take a little stroll down Sussex Drive and poke into a few of the cute boutiques and see if I could find a dress for the upcoming Bashnoir event.
As per usual, I got sidetracked. m0851 caught my eye – a gorgeous, modern yet warm leather goods boutique that I had read about and seen online, but never had a chance to visit. I thought “Why not?”, and headed on in. Continue reading m0851: A Style Domination Store Profile
