I’m not sure how I feel about the logomania that has begun to sweep the fashion world. I was caught up in it during the early 2000s and like many a fashionista, bought logo-covered everything, including my first Louis Vuitton bag. Continue reading Logo Fever
We have a winner! A huge congratulations to Shelley Stott! Thank you to everyone who entered!
The Ottawa Vintage Clothing Show is back! Taking place at the Shaw Centre in downtown Ottawa on Sunday, April 10, 2016, there is no way I am missing it this year.
So, it’s safe to say that my Chanel Bag saving is dead in the water. Yes – I’m disappointed in myself. Sigh.
I was severely sidetracked when the opportunity presented itself to own this beauty: the Alexander McQueen Heroine Bag. Continue reading Bag Bliss: Alexander McQueen Heroine Tote
I’ll admit it. I’m not the best accessorizer. I like to keep things simple, so you’ll rarely see me donning a giant logo-covered bag, statement jewelry of any sort (I do love a huge cocktail ring though), crazy body chains that look like something out of a dominatrix’s chest of goodies, huge belts, etc. I gravitate towards delicate gold jewelry, pearls and diamonds (of course). When I go shopping, I can usually spot a pair of gold studs from a mile away amidst a ton of in-your-face cocktail jewelry. Continue reading The Best Accessory Trends For Spring 2016
Happy New Year, All! 2016 is off to a great start already, and it’s only five days into the year.
Each December, I start thinking about New Year’s Resolutions that I want to set for myself. For a long time, I promised myself that I’d “overhaul my life” in the same boring ways such as promising to work out more, save more money, exercise more, eat less garbage and drink much less alcohol. I’d usually last about 2-3 weeks before reaching for that glass of rosé to wash down the man-sized New York Cherry Cheesecake slice I was gorging on. I love Shoppers Drug Mart. It’s one of my favourite stores of all time. Why, you ask? Because I can get lost in there forever amongst its thousands of great offerings. Many times I have run in only needing Bandaids, and come out with bags full of cosmetics, lotions, potions, groceries, decorations, pet food, etc.
My earliest memories of Shoppers Drug Mart were shopping jaunts with my mom. While she tried out perfumes in the beauty section, I would salivate over their huge offering of jumbo-sized Bonnebell Lipsmakers. As a teenager, my friends and I would congregate at Shoppers after school to buy everything we read about in Teen Magazine, from Malibu Musk to Sea Breeze anti-acne astringent (wow – I’m really dating myself). Until recently, my makeup brush game was weak – real weak. I had a set of tired, 10-yr-old Aveda brushes that needed to be put out of their misery. On top of that, I barely new how to use them. Out of the set of six, I only used the blush, eyeshadow, and eyebrow brushes. When refinishing an endtable for my living room and realizing that my paint brush was too big to properly apply paint to the table’s nooks and crannies, I reached for the never-used concealer brush from that Aveda set. What can I say other than it worked perfectly. Continue reading A Guide to Makeup Brushes: My All-Star List
