Oh NOOOOO. Bike shorts are apparently back. This may not be a surprise to some of my favourite bloggers (check out the award-winning The Drunken Cyclist and his fantastic Ohmygod series for some serious belly laughs), but it’s news to me…or is it?
I’m SO THRILLED and EXCITED to be heading to the 2016 Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards! Finally – my chance to wear something gala-worthy as arrived!
Taking place Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the National Arts Centre, little ol’ me and my gorgeous hubby will be rubbing elbows with Canada’s art elite. Continue reading Glitz and Glamour: The 2016 Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards
I think we have all been bullied or been affected by bullying at some point in our lives and it sucks. I remember as a teenager being bullied over the course of my grade 12 year and it left me feeling alone, anxious and downright scared at times. Each child deserves the chance to grow and flourish, despite their perceived differences. Continue reading #StandTogether Against Bullying!
Over the past few weeks, I have cleared out my closet of pieces I no longer use or no longer fit. While I do this annually, this particular clear-out was an emotionally charged one. I had a few of my designer bags stolen late last year and every time I look at the empty space in my closet where they should be, I’m reminded of that painful experience. I love myself a great scarf. They just add a certain “je ne sais quoi” to any outfit. I wear them all year round – from keeping myself warm from the winter chill to looking breezy cool on a summer night while sipping cocktails on a patio. The only haute couture piece in my closet is my Justina McCaffrey wedding dress. A treasured piece (obviously), I pull it out every now and then and marvel at its beauty and construction. Made to measure, it fit perfectly. I remember the ladies at Justina McCaffrey dismissing me politely when I asked if my undergarments would show at all underneath the fine silk. “This is haute couture, my dear. No need for strapless bras. The boning and fine corsetry is made to measure. It will hold you in beautifully.” Continue reading Haute Couture Luxury at Fashion Art Toronto
I remember the last time I dropped my iPhone. It was my beloved iPhone 4S and I was juggling bags of groceries, my phone and my keys, trying to open my front door without putting anything down. In the blink of an eye, I dropped my beloved phone, and its sleek, fragile front shattered into a cobweb of broken glass. I groaned and cursed the poorly made yet extremely expensive excuse of a smartphone case that popped off and laid next to my iPhone, mocking me. THAT WAS IT. Then and there, I started my hunt for the perfect phone case that wasn’t hideous and bulky, but affordable at the same time. Continue reading The Classiest Smartphone Case Ever: LuxBoxCase
A few weeks ago, I was invited to the “Meet Your New Jeans With Emily Luciano” event hosted by Topshop Canada and The Hudson’s Bay Company. I hopped at the chance to see Emily Luciano in person, as she is a huge source of fashion inspiration of mine. An Ottawa native, Emily Luciano has grown her Instagram account to a startling 118,000 followers over the course of only one year in addition to a super stylish blog with a readership just as big. Style oozing out of every single one of her pores, I wanted to see this stylish young lady in action. Continue reading White Out
