My lovely home city of Ottawa is known for its restaurants. Culinary delights can be found at every corner of the city. With no shortage of options ranging from high-end cuisine to Southern home cooking, Ottawa delivers. Continue reading Origin Trade – A Café Lounge Like No Other
Ahhhh…the Christmas Holidays! My favourite time of year. The holidays bring me so much joy with days filled with warmth and cheer, bringing my family together to do what we do best – drink. Among our many traditions is blasting Christmas carols while putting up our huge Christmas tree while sipping on a cup of warm, mulled wine.

Meet Alexandra Courts. Over a year ago or so, I stumbled upon her amazing Instagram account and started stalking her hard. I couldn’t get over her amazing cat photos (LOVE) and her on point food photography and recipes! I marvelled at all of the mouth-watering, beautiful pictures of such things as “protein nice cream sandwiches”, no-bake peanut buttercups and raw, salted chocolate caramel/coconut tarts. Ottawa, the city I call home, has a reputation for being small, conservative and frankly – boring. If you give it a chance though, our unassuming little town will thrill you with its amazing restaurants.
I don’t think I’ve ever been to a city that is this small, but has so many great culinary offerings. From the charming Byward Market in the downtown core, to the faraway reaches of Manotick, there is a wealth of tasty delights at every turn.
This week, I attended a blogger meetup hosted by Zomato (previously Urbanspoon) at Kinki Lounge Kitchen. Kinki, a sexy little lounge which recently underwent a beautiful renovation, offers a wide variety of sushi, tapas, steaks and savoury, delicious cocktails which double as art. Happy Monday, All!
I had an absolutely fantastic weekend! Our good friend Meredith was visiting from LA and we were fortunate enough to all get together on Friday night for dinner.
Being an LA native, Meredith has access to some of the best authentic Mexican food in her revered city. To make her feel at home, we wanted to take her to local favourite El Camino for tacos and margaritas (El Camino has perfected the margarita, in my opinion). Unfortunately, it true El Camino fashion, the wait for a table was over 90 minutes long, so we decided to head up the street to Town for dinner. Continue reading Mmmmm…Pure Gelato!
Well, it’s been a hectic week, but in a good way. Work is trucking along well, our landscaper has started in our backyard on my rockgarden (so thrilled!) and Ryan and I have booked our trip out west to visit his family. Life is good.
I hadn’t seen my two girlfriends for cocktails and dinner in a while, and Lucie thought it was about time to hit up a patio and enjoy a few laughs together. Continue reading Style Domination Restaurant Review: Metropolitain Brasserie Restaurant
Sketch is a bit of a London celebrity. It’s unique, colourful and playful décor is a sight to behold. After seeing hundreds of amazing pictures of its bathroom on instagram (that’s right – its bathroom), Jen and I decided it was a must-see during my trip.
Sketch has received wonderful ratings all around from Urbanspoon, Google, and Trip Advisor, which isn’t surprising as the menu was designed by Michelin-starred chef Pierre Gagnaire. It’s interior is a visual feast for the eyes. Designed by Martin Creed, Turner Prize-winner interior designer, the restaurant gallery’s floor is comprised of 96 different types of marble. Jen is a foodie at heart. We have travelled quite a few places together and I can always count on her to take us to the best restaurants. Well, our visit to NOPI did not disappoint and my delight at the amazing cuisine wasn’t surprising!
We are both fans of Yotam Ottolenghi, an Israeli chef known for his incredible cookbooks, some of which specialize in vegetarian fare. Most of his dishes also have a Middle-Eastern influence, so expect flavourful pairings of spices, textures and colours. His cooking is influenced by Syrian, Turkish, Lebanese, Armenian, Iranian and Israeli traditional dishes with a Western flare. Continue reading NOPI – A Yotam Ottolenghi Masterpiece of a Restaurant
I’m super excited! I will be heading to London soon to visit my dear friend Jen. I wish so much that she lived closer, but hopping on a plane to visit her in one of my favourite cities in the world ain’t so bad!
I love everything about London. The sites, the history, the architecture, Princess Kate, London’s amazing energy…it can do wrong in my eyes. Continue reading Style Domination Goes to London, Part 1
