Glowing, Hydrated Skin: Avène Eau Thermale Spring Water

Funny story: after finishing a 5K run after work, I realized that I’d forgotten my access pass to the office on my desk. So, no access to the showers for me. I berated myself as I climbed into my car while sweating buckets. Of course, I was meeting a couple of friends at an event in 30 minutes, so I resigned myself to the fact that A) I could either cancel or C) show up looking (and smelling) like a sweaty mess.  Continue reading Glowing, Hydrated Skin: Avène Eau Thermale Spring Water

SD Beauty Review: Shiseido White Lucent Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream

A year spent battling allergies has left me with some battle scars in the form of terrible dark circles.  I won’t lie – the last year has been tough for me health-wise. After a battery of tests, it was determined that I have a pretty significant allergy to cats, and it broke my heart to have to give up my best buddy Jones to a close family friend. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss him terribly, but I’m comforted that she’s taking wonderful care of him. Continue reading SD Beauty Review: Shiseido White Lucent Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream

MAC Cosmetics Haute Dogs Event: Blue Smoky Eye Fabulousness

A few weeks ago while stalking Kim Kardashian’s Instagram account, I came across a pic she posted of the best blue smoky eye I’d ever seen. As I’m obsessed with the smoky eye look right now, I took a screenshot of it and promised myself to book a makeup application with my favourite makeup artist, Anthonia Bejide, to learn how to do this. Well, Anthonia’s ears must have been burning because she messaged me a few days after I found Kim Kardashian’s picture and invited me to the MAC Cosmetics Haute Dogs Event at The Hudson’s Bay Company. Giddy up! Continue reading MAC Cosmetics Haute Dogs Event: Blue Smoky Eye Fabulousness

Seven of the Best Skincare Rules to Follow

Following up on yesterday’s post Skin Destroyers: Avoid These Pitfalls, I thought I would post some skincare rules we should all be following.  As a former esthetician, I’ve seen it all.  From people with red, angry skin from leaving harsh face masques on too long, to those with serious scarring from picking at acne relentlessly, skin care is something everyone should fully understand.

As we take care of ourselves by hydrating properly with lots of water and eating nutritious food to keep us healthy and energized, we can boost the positive effects of these practices by taking a few steps to baby and protect our skin. It’s natural to want to pick at a huge pimple in desperation, hoping that squeezing it to death will miraculously make it disappear. It’s also understandable to want to discover that miracle skin scream that will reverse the “ravages of time” and bestow an Adriana Lima-like glow upon us. I think it’s best to just embrace the skin your in and work with what you have.  Armed with knowledge, you can indeed transform lacklustre skin into something you’re proud of.  Read on for more details! Skin Destroyers: Avoid These Pitfalls

Ok. I’m officially obsessed with skin care. Maybe it’s because I’ve reached a certain age and I find my dark circles now refuse to go away, and I am getting tiny moles everywhere thanks to being a self-proclaimed sun worshipper. One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to take much better care of my skin. I thought that may be easier to attain and make me happier than the usual “Spend Less”, “Exercise More”, “Drink Less”, “Buy a Chanel Bag” and “Buy More Shoes” resolutions that I make year after year. Here is my list of skin no-nos, things that most of us all do on a daily basis that causes us not to reach our full JLo-like, glowy potential. Continue reading Skin Destroyers: Avoid These Pitfalls
