Cool, Unique Brands Worth Checking Out

I’ll admit that lately, my shopping adventures have left me feeling a little uninspired. While there are a lot of great trends out there for this spring/summer season, I’m finding a lot of the major brands you’ll find in your local mall are offering options that are really watered down versions of what you’d see in magazines. Also, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect crossbody bag and my visits to the top accessories stores you find everywhere have been pretty boring, generic…and well, EVERYWHERE. So, I hit the internet and grabbed a stack of my favourite magazines and started researching cool and upcoming brands.

About a year ago, I was toiling away in my dreary, grey cubicle when I threw up my hands and said out loud: “I need a break.” What do I do when need to decompress and clear my mind?  I go shopping.

After the Alfred & Co. fashion show I attended a few weeks ago, I had a little spare time on my hands before heading home.  Since I was downtown in Ottawa’s beautiful Byward Market, I thought I’d take a little stroll down Sussex Drive and poke into a few of the cute boutiques and see if I could find a dress for the upcoming Bashnoir event.

As per usual, I got sidetracked. m0851 caught my eye – a gorgeous, modern yet warm leather goods boutique that I had read about and seen online, but never had a chance to visit.  I thought “Why not?”, and headed on in.
